Persian rhinoplasty is a very popular and sought after cosmetic procedure within the Persian culture, both here in Canada, as well as back home. Persian rhinoplasty is not just exclusive to women as many persian men seek out this surgery as well. Persian patients are often knowledgeable as well as open minded regarding cosmetic surgery. Persian women are very often recognized for their natural beauty, however, many pursue a reduction rhinoplasty to de-emphasize a dominant nose in order to enhance their other facial features.

Dr. Solomon On Persian Rhinoplasty In Toronto

Persian RhinoplastyThere are over 100,000 Persian Canadians with almost half living in the Greater Toronto Area. A large majority of Persians are in the Thornhill and Richmond Hill area of Vaughan, just minutes north of Toronto. Dr. Solomon’s Nasal and Facial Plastic Surgery Centre is located in Old Thornhill with his practice situated in an area that has a large Persian population.

Based on the location of his practice and Dr. Solomon’s reputation as a specialist in rhinoplasty surgery, it is only natural that Dr. Solomon has become a widely recognized surgeon within the Toronto Persian community, known as one of the leading experts in Persian rhinoplasty.

Dr. Solomon’s Perspective On His Persian Rhinoplasty Patients

“I have been performing rhinoplasty surgery for nearly 2 decades. I have a large Persian patient base. Many of my happiest patients are Persian men and women who have had transformative rhinoplasty surgery. Generally speaking, some of these patients can dramatically enhance their appearance with reduction rhinoplasty surgery. What is unique about Persian patients is their acceptance of cosmetic surgery and their willingness to undergo cosmetic enhancing rhinoplasty surgery.”

Rhinoplasty In Toronto Versus Travelling To Tehran For Surgery

Persian Rhinoplasty TorontoWhile some Persian patients choose to travel back to Tehran for rhinoplasty, there are advantages to having surgery in the Toronto area. There are, without a doubt, good rhinoplasty surgeons in Tehran, but by doing some research, individuals can find a rhinoplasty surgeon, such as Dr. Philip Solomon who has the experience, exceptional skills and artistic nuances to perform cosmetic procedures while preserving one’s ethnic uniqueness.

Rhinoplasty is a complicated procedure where up to ten percent of the results may require a need for a secondary procedure in order to achieve optimal results. If a patient has a problem with their initial operation performed in Iran they will have to either find a new surgeon in Toronto to redo the work, which may be costly, or they will have to travel back to Tehran for a touch-up.

Persian Rhinoplasty Surgical Technique

As with all rhinoplasty patients, it is essential to assess each case individually. Dr. Solomon will meet with you to examine your nose and discuss your surgical goals. He will inform you about what is realistic, achievable, and offer his guidance. He offers advanced computer imaging to help you plan your surgical procedure and get a sense of different nose options. Dr. Solomon has a gallery of patient photos so that you may review previous results and the successful outcomes of many satisfied rhinoplasty and ethnic rhinoplasty patients.

Persian patients often present a combination of thicker skin, larger nasal tip, and dorsal bump or hump. Depending on the patients starting point and desired goals, Dr. Solomon always creates an individualized surgical plan as every surgical procedure is based on the unique anatomy of the patient.

Persian Revision Rhinoplasty

“…Approximately 25-30% of my practice is treating Persian patients. I frequently see patients with problems from nose surgery performed in Iran years ago. That being said, I also see some excellent rhinoplasty results from patients treated in Iran. The common problems I see include over resection of the nasal bones and under correction of the cartilaginous bridge causing a “poly beak” appearance. The other common problem I see, is over resection of the nasal tip cartilages causing excess pinching of the nasal tip and associated breathing problems. These problems can be corrected with a revision rhinoplasty technique” says Dr. Philip Solomon.

Recovery For Persian Rhinoplasty

Persian Rhinoplasty TorontoIn order to make a more educated decision about whether a Persian rhinoplasty is right for you, it is important that you have a clear understanding of the recovery process for the procedure.

As with any surgical procedure, recovery time frames vary depending on the patient and their unique surgical challenges. The process for having a Persian rhinoplasty will involve the placement of splints and sutures. Typically, these elements are removed around 7 days after the procedure as the patient begins to feel more comfortable and the swelling and bruising around their eyes dissipates.

You will begin to see a better sense of your results about four weeks post-surgery. This ensures the optimal amount of time for swelling to lessen and for your body to acclimatize after the recovery phase. Some patients continue to notice changes for up to 7 weeks after their procedure, but the vast majority of these changes will only be perceptible to you and involve small corrections in the bone.

What Is The Difference Between A Rhinoplasty And A Persian Rhinoplasty?

The procedures are almost identical, however, the goals for each are quite different. In completing our Persian rhinoplasty surgeries, we work to not only improve the look of the nose but to also preserve a patient’s unique ethnicity. We try to ensure the patient achieves their ideal appearance while respecting their Persian heritage. It is our commitment to our patients that has helped Dr. Solomon and our surgical team, become the recommended experts throughout the local Persian community.

Am I A Good Candidate?

The ideal candidate for a Persian rhinoplasty procedure are those who are at least 18 years of age. A complete medical history should be shared with Dr. Solomon to ensure the patient is in good health and a candidate for surgery. We ask that a list of all medications including supplements be shared with us as some can inhibit the recovery process such as blood thinners. Most often, qualified candidates have specific concerns about the appearance or function of their nose, however, because each case is unique, it is important to be very candid about one’s desired outcome in order for Dr. Solomon to determine if you are a qualified candidate for the surgical process.

How Valuable Is The Surgeon’s Experience?

It is absolutely critical that your surgeon has comprehensive experience in completing Persian rhinoplasty work. Without this experience, they may not be able to achieve the optimal results for this complex and unique process. Our team at the Solomon Nasal and Facial Plastic Surgery Centre, have decades of experience working with individuals from the Persian community to help ensure that patients achieve their ideal rhinoplasty results.
