You may have heard this one, but we can’t stress it enough. Keep the head and shoulders elevated after rhinoplasty to help reduce swelling faster. It will also minimize discomfort. Don’t bend over, (even to quickly pick up items off the floor.) The majority of swelling should resolve 3-4 weeks following your surgery.
In most cases, Toronto rhinoplasty patients describe the recovery as comfortable and easy to manage with minimal medication. The most significant discomfort factor is the sense of congestion and facial pressure throughout the first week. Your surgeon will show you how to gently cleanse and moisturize the nostrils for added comfort.
Though many people bring pictures of their “dream nose” to their Toronto rhinoplasty surgeon, it can only serve as a guide. Dr. Solomon will do his best to achieve your desired results, however, if what you wish for isn’t realistic or will not suit your face, he will be sure to share this with you. Computer imaging is a useful tool to show patients what your surgeons’ projected goals are to ensure you are both on the same page.
Revision rhinoplasty surgery is sometimes desired to improve on a previous result. Patients should understand that Revision Rhinoplasty can often have greater risks than the primary surgery. Revisions can be more complex due to a build up of scar tissue as well as less cartilage to work with. Be sure to seek a highly experienced and knowledgeable specialist if you need a second nose job.
