Coolsculpting

Coolsculpting is one of the latest and arguably one of the most effective non-surgical fat reduction treatments on the market today. Coolsculpting has been an alternative to body liposuction since 2014, and with any new technology comes hype as well as skepticism.

Coolsculpting is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that reduces between 20-25% of the fat in the treatment area. Coolsculpting has become so popular because it’s non-surgical. That means, no general anesthetic, no incisions, no downtime and no recovery process.

How it works is as follows. Coolsculpting also known as Cryolipolysis, is a medical treatment used to destroy fat cells by freezing them using a controlled temperature of -11 °C. The fat cells are then metabolized through the lymphatic system and eliminated from the body.

There are a few variables outside of the Coolsculpting technology itself that can impact the success of your treatment. First and foremost, are you truly a candidate for Coolsculpting? As with any medical procedure, the results are individual to the patient. You are relying on your Coolsculpting specialist to set you up for success by properly assessing your body to ensure that you have an adequate amount of fat to fit the applicator to properly treat you. You also want to ensure that your Coolsculpting specialist is choosing you as a candidate because they truly think that you are suitable for the treatment and not because they need the business. Often people have more lax skin than fat which can give the illusion that they are a candidate for the Coolsculpting procedure when in fact they would be better suited for a surgical procedure that addresses skin tightening.

Patients who feel they don’t see results may require more than one treatment. In fact, quite often patients need up to 3 treatments to see optimal results. This is where the consultation and assessment are very important so that you are given realistic expectations. If you’re told you that you will need more than one treatment to achieve the results want, then you should complete the treatment protocol before you can gage the success of your Coolsculpting procedure.

Hypertrophic Or Keloid Scars

A Coolsculpting specialist is given their title because they have been specially trained by Coolsculpting to conduct the procedure. There is skill involved in applying the applicator to the treatment area ensuring that the correct amount of fat and the correct area is being addressed. Choosing an experienced and skilled Coolsculpting technician is essential, so do your research, ask questions and read reviews.

The length of a treatment can range from 35 – 75 minutes depending on the area being treated, the applicator being used and the volume of fat being reduced. There are 5 applicators of different shapes and sizes that are used for different areas of the body. Outer thigh requires a flat applicator and 75 minutes to treat while the chin requires a cool-mini applicator and 45 minutes to treat.
