How Much Does Facial Feminization Transgender Surgery in Toronto Cost

Transgender Surgery

Facial feminization surgery is also known as FFS. The term describes a combination of cosmetic procedures designed to modify facial characteristics for a typically feminine result.

Both men and women choose to soften masculinize features with the combination of one or more FFS techniques. The surgery is custom-tailored for each person and can include almost any area of the face and neck. Typical regions to be altered or enhanced with FFS include the jaw, the brow, eye area, nose and cheeks. Neck lift procedures, lip lifts and facial fillers also contribute to overall outcomes.

What can you expect before and after your FFS?

Whether you’ll be undergoing soft tissue alterations or more significate bone alterations, if you take hormones this will need to be discontinued two weeks before surgery. We typically advise patients to begin again 2 weeks after. All medications or supplements you take will be discussed in detail with your surgeon before the operation, and you’ll be advised about safety or contraindications for these.

You’ll most likely need to take a standard 2 weeks off work. Each individual surgical plan requires personalized instructions, but 2 weeks for the majority of inflammation to heal is typical. During that initial post-op phase, it’s helpful to have extra help on hand for child or pet care and housework.

You should pause a gym membership if you have one, and refrain from strenuous activities or lifting heavy objects for a minimum of 4 weeks. You can take charge of your own, optimal healing once at home by avoiding blood pressure increases or placing any strain on the treatment area.

Incisions will be well-hidden wherever possible and should be closed within a couple of weeks. You’ll return to the clinic once or twice in the early phase to ensure you’re on track and remove sutures. We provide direct contact information for your surgeon post-procedure, and we’re here to guide you any time you need during recovery. By 6 months post op, most people can enjoy their final results with swelling resolved and scars faded. Ongoing sun protection is always advised to keep the skin looking young and healthy while ensuring scars stay faint and discrete.
