BBelkyra™ – Chin Fat Reduction Treatment
Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures
BELKYRA™ (deoxycholic acid) is the first and only FDA and Health Canada approved non-surgical injectable treatment that helps to dissolve fat under the chin and improve chin contours.
Fullness under the chin impacts both women and men, and is influenced by several factors. It’s a common misperception that fullness under the chin only appears in those who are overweight – when in reality, it can occur in any body type.
Regardless of a person’s age or overall body type, it can lead to an individual looking older, feeling heavier than they really are and self conscious about their appearance. According to a survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), over 67 per cent of people are bothered by fullness under the chin.
How Does Fullness Under The Chin Differ In Men And Women?
In women, fullness under the chin widens the lower-third of the face and often doesn’t correlate with a youthful or attractive appearance. In men, fullness under the chin can diminish a masculine, powerful look and detracts from the appearance of a strong jawline.
For both men and women, fullness under the chin can lead to feelings of negative self-impression, even among younger adult patients. And in a world of smartphones and selfies, consumers have employed ‘tricks of the trade’ to diminish the appearance of fullness under the chin from scarves for women, to growing beards for men; from sticking out their chin and relaxing their shoulders in pictures, to angling cell phones and tablets from higher angles.
What Causes Fullness In The Chin Area?
Whether we are conscious of it or not, everyone notices the chin area. A loss or lack of definition in a
person’s chin profile is commonly caused by one or more of the following three factors:
The aging process can bring unwelcome changes that contribute to the appearance of fullness under the chin. These include extra skin, accumulation of fat, and loosening of the surrounding muscles.
Weight gain can also contribute to the appearance of fullness under the chin. Most individuals tend to gain weight as they age and a moderate weight gain may result in increased fullness under the chin area.
What Treatment Options Are Available?
Under the chin, fullness is a bothersome condition that was limited in terms of non-surgical treatment options, until recently. Research has revealed an innovative new injectable that actually destroys the stubborn fat cells. BELKYRA (Kybella in the USA) has been approved by Health Canada and FDA as the first and only injectable therapy that can eliminate under the chin fullness without anesthetic and no incisions.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
One of the most important questions to consider when analyzing your BELKYRA treatment option, is the number of distinct treatments you may need. Many patients achieve clear, visible results in just 2 -to-4 treatments. However, up-to six treatment sessions may be administered no less than one month apart.
How Long Will the Results Last?
The longevity of your BELKYRA treatment is one of its leading advantages because it fully destroys fat cells beneath the chin permanently. Therefore, there is no need for retreatment as the results are long lasting.
Can I Undergo Other Treatments At The Same Time?
A BELKYRA treatment can be performed in conjunction with some selected cosmetic procedures. Our staff at Solomon Facial Plastic would be able advise you of your treatment viability. In some cases, you may have to undergo BELKYRA separately to ensure optimal results from your procedure.
