Over the past several years there has been an incredible increase in the public’s interest in cosmetic plastic surgery and other cosmetic treatments.

 
Many factors have contributed to this phenomenon:
a) the aging baby boom population;
b) increasing numbers of women in the workforce;
c) increasing entrepreneurism with both men and women having to work for themselves;
d) innovative surgical procedures that have resulted in improved outcomes and less downtime;
e) a plethora of new technologies and treatments that are non-invasive;
f) a society experiencing a rising standard of living;
g) printed and electronic media interest which has made the public more aware of and comfortable with entertaining such treatments; and
h) increasing numbers of physicians and surgeons entering the field, amongst others.
