Dr. Philip ColomonDr. Philip Solomon has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing the field of facial plastic surgery throughout his career. He completed an eight-year, two-term tenure as Chief of Surgery at Mackenzie Health Hospital (formerly known as York Central Hospital), where his vision and expertise helped shape the hospital’s surgical standards and patient care initiatives.

Dr. Solomon continues to serve on the surgical staff at Mackenzie Health Hospital, where he remains Chief of his department, providing both clinical leadership and mentorship to his colleagues and trainees.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Solomon is deeply committed to academic medicine and surgical education. He is a member of the teaching faculty at the University of Toronto, within the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Facial Plastic Surgery, where he holds the position of Assistant Professor. Through this role, he contributes to the training of the next generation of facial plastic surgeons, imparting both technical expertise and an appreciation for the artistry of aesthetic balance.

Dr. Solomon is a Co-Director of a Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship within the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Toronto. The fellowship is a highly sought out and coveted opportunity with fellows coming from all over the world to observe and learn from Dr. Solomon. Dr. Solomon has also been actively involved in resident and medical student education at the University of Toronto, particularly in the areas of nasal and facial plastic surgery, where his surgical experience and aesthetic philosophy have made a lasting impact on his trainees.

Dr. Philip Solomon earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto. He subsequently completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto, one of the world’s premier institutions for advanced surgical training in this specialty. His residency emphasized Head and Neck Cancer Surgery, Reconstructive Facial Surgery, and Facial Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, including rhinoplasty, facelift, blepharoplasty, and otoplasty procedures. During his training, Dr. Solomon had the privilege of learning from mentors who are internationally recognized leaders in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as Cosmetic and Reconstructive Rhinoplasty.

Meet The Types Of Patients That Dr. Solomon Will Commonly Receive

Patients come to see Dr. Solomon for many reasons, all of which are personal to each individual but is usually driven by the desire to improve some aspect of their facial anatomy.

– Some patients want to improve their self-confidence.. A face is our most visible and noticeable feature and is often the first impression. Not feeling good about you face, can lead to low self-esteem.

– Some patients have difficulty breathing. Many people find that the shape of their nose and septum causes difficulty breathing. For this reason, they come to Dr. Solomon seeking a rhinoplasty. Sometimes their concerns are a result of an injury while in other cases, they are due to genetic characteristics that a person was born with.

-Those who have suffered injuries to the face. It is not uncommon to sustain an injury to the face and to require some form of cosmetic surgery or procedure to help correct the damage left behind.

– Perhaps a facial feature is too large or too small. Sometimes a patient feels as if their nostrils or nose shape is too large, that their lips are too thin, their cheeks are too gaunt, or they are just unhappy with how they look overall. If a facial feature is unbalanced with the rest of your face, there are a number of surgical and non-surgical options to help correct and restore harmony.

– A lack of symmetry in the face or the desire to appear more attractive. There are a number of prominent facial features that may not be naturally balanced. Correcting asymmetry is a common reason to undergo cosmetic surgery and can be quite successful.
