There seems to be a dramatic rise in patients seeking rhinoplasty after undergoing laser eye surgery. Patients who wore glasses for years are aware that they appear different without them.
While most patients are thrilled to lose their glasses after refractive surgery, certain people feel self conscious about their appearance after losing their glasses. There seems to be two factors leading to this rise in post laser eye surgery rhinoplasty phenomenon. It appears that certain patients with a larger nose become more concerned about their nasal proportion after they lose their glasses. Patients tell me that “their glasses used to cover up their nose and it was less of an issue for them”. The second factor contributing to the rise in post eye surgery rhinoplasty is that these patients seem comfortable having corrective nasal surgery after undergoing prior successful corrective eye surgery.
