1. What You Need To Purchase Prior to your Toronto Dimple Creation Surgery:

  • Vitamin C, up to 2000mg Daily 2 weeks Prior to Surgery is recommended
  • Prescribed Medication provided by Dr. Philip Solomon prior to Surgery
  • Ice Packs or Frozen Peas
  • Salt Water or Hydrogen Peroxide 3%
  • Confirmed Ride Home from your Surgery
  • Ativan can be provided on the day of your Dimple Surgery if you’re feeling anxious
  • Arnica is Recommended the night before surgery and following your Surgery
  • (Optional) Glisodin Pre/Post Preparation, Sold in our Clinic, to be taken 4 weeks Prior to Surgery and 2 weeks Post-Operatively to Reduce Bruising

2. What To AVOID 2 Weeks Prior To Your Dimple Creation Surgery:

  • Smoking (Nicotine / Marijuana)
  • Alcohol (Discontinue for at Least 1 week prior to Surgery as it may Increase Bruising and Prolong Swelling.
  • Naturopathic or Herbal Medications/Supplements (Unless Approved by Dr. Philip Solomon)
  • Remove Gel / Acrylic Nails, Nail Polish for surgery
  • MUST DISCONTINUE: Aspirin, Advil or Ibuprofen, as these products may increase bleeding.
  • MUST AVOID: Garlic Extract, Fish Oils and Vitamin E

3. What to Expect Following your Dimple Creation Surgery:

  • On the day of your surgery, we ask you to arrive at the Solomon Nasal and Facial Plastic Surgery Centre in Thornhill, just north of Toronto at the Scheduled time you have been provided
  • Immediately following your Dimple Creation Surgery, you may leave our Clinic to return home to rest and take it easy
  • You may eat if you’re Hungry. Soft Foods are Preferred for the First Week to avoid Risk of Rupturing Sutures
  • Sleep with your head Elevated using a few Pillows to help Minimize Swelling for the first 48 hours
  • Swelling and Bruising is expected post-operatively and may take up to 3 weeks to resolve. Please be patient
  • You may Experience pain during the Recovery Process. Take Tylenol for Pain as well as Prescribed Medication
  • You may Experience some Numbness around the Operative area for a few Weeks that May affect your Smile. This is Temporary.
  • You may experience Tenderness in your cheeks when Chewing or Smiling. This may Last for Several Days post procedure.
  • Tenderness may Last up to 3 Months
  • Dimple Creation is typically performed under Local Anaesthetic, however if General Anaesthetic is required, you may experience a Sore Throat post procedure due to intubation. You may use Honey, Lozenges, etc. for Relief

4. What To Avoid Following Your Dimple Creation Surgery:

  • Avoid Eating tough food for the First Week
  • Be Cautious when Brushing your Teeth
  • Avoid Bending over or Lifting Heavy things for One Week. This could Aggravate Swelling, Raise Blood Pressure and cause Hemorrhaging
  • Avoid Smoking, especially throughout the Recovery Period as Smoking may Prolong Healing
  • Avoid Alcohol for at Least 2 Weeks following your Dimple Surgery as it may cause Fluid Retention and Prolong Swelling
  • Avoid Naturopathic or Herbal Medications unless Approved by Dr. Solomon
  • Avoid Aspirin, Advil, or Ibuprofen as these Products can Prolong Swelling
  • Avoid Physical Exercise for 4-6 Weeks Following your Dimple Surgery unless otherwise stated by Dr. Solomon
  • Avoid Direct Sun Exposure on your Incisions for 1 year following your Surgery. Use a Minimum of SPF 45 Daily

5. When To Be Concerned:

  • If you Develop a Large Firm Mass extending from the Surgical area
  • If you Develop a Rash, Persistent Fever, Chills or Sweating
  • If you Notice a Foul Odour or Yellow Drainage coming from the Incision Site
  • If you Experience Severe Pain that Is Not Controlled with Tylenol
  • If you Experience Persistent Bleeding that Does Not Resolve in 20 Minutes or With Direct Pressure
  • If you Experience Persistent Vomiting and are Unable to Drink Liquids for Greater Than 4 Hour
  • If you Experience Shortness of Breath, Chest Pain, Weakness or Numbness in the Face or Limbs
