North American teens are undergoing cosmetic surgery in record numbers by Deirdre Kelly.

Dr. Solomon interviewed as Facial Cosmetic Surgeon as expert on trends in Cosmetic surgery.

According to Phil Solomon a facial cosmetic surgeon at Toronto’s St Michael’s Hospital, teenaged boys are also pursuing plastic surgery in significantly greater numbers. The number of young males seeking rhinoplasty, facial implants and otoplasty (plastic surgery of the ears) through Solomon’s practice “is up 30 percent over last year-despite a recession”, he says. Solomon whose office is in Thornhill Ont., attributes the increase in growing societal acceptance of cosmetic surgery in general. “There is a growing trend in the media to highlight young celebrities and young talent. Young people who are influenced by the media are ready and willing to take these steps towards physical self enhancement.”
