NECK LIFT – LATERAL NECK LIFT

The first signs of aging are often present in the neck. A beautiful neck is one that highlights the jawline and neck contours. With the aging process the structure of the neck changes. Multiple factors that can contribute to an aging neck include descent of the muscle, deposits of fat under the chin, overlying skin changes and more visible saliva glands. An aging neck can be addressed with a lateral neck lift procedure and can significantly improve the contour of the neck.

This neck lift procedure is carried out through an incision behind each ear that extends into the hairline to camouflage and hide scars. By elevating the platysma muscle and securing it in the mastoid crevasse, Dr. Solomon can create a defined jawline. This procedure may also be suitable for those experiencing isolated neck laxity or those who are genetically predisposed to a less defined jawline.

SUBMENTALPLASTY – CENTRAL NECK LIFT

A submentalplasty, also known as a central neck lift is performed on patients with an obtuse shaped or a heavier neck anatomy, and are looking for increased neck definition also known as a “swan neck”.

This procedure is carried out through an incision under the chin to allow access to the platysma muscles in the anterior neck. We access the central neck, remove subplatysmal fat and in some circumstances we trim the deep musculature and salivary glands. These bands are then joined together with corset sutures to reshape the neck.

This is a very powerful procedure for those in their 30’s and 40’s who are looking to sculpt their neck. Submentalplasty can be performed with neck liposuction, as well as FaceTite, a skin tightening procedure to further enhance the results of a submentalplasty central neck lift.

DIRECT NECK Z-PLASTY

Direct Neck Z-Plasty is named for its Z shaped incision on the neck. This procedure is exclusively suited for men who want a dramatic result of their neck contour without a facelift. Ideal candidates for the Direct Neck Z-Plasty are men approaching their 60’s and older, who are comfortable wearing facial hair /stuble that can nicely conceal the z-shaped incision on their neck.

The Z-Plasty incision exposes the neck musculature allowing for the platysma bands to be tightened, corseted and excess skin removed. Due to the nature of the scar, this procedure is not typically offered to women. Direct Neck Z-Plasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia.

NECK LIFTS VS. FACELIFT

A neck lift is an excellent procedure if you only want to target your neck. A neck lift does not address the jawline, jowls, naso-labial folds and cheeks. A mini-facelift only addresses the mid face. A neck lift only addresses the neck. A Facelift addresses both the lower face and the neck, providing a fluid result from the cheek down to the base of the neck. The advantages of addressing both the lower face and neck is a more comprehensive and natural looking lift. In some cases where patients only address the neck and not the lower face, the lower face/jawline can look loose compared to the operated neck which could result in pleating (gathered skin) that can hang over the neck.
