How Fast Does A Toronto Nose Tip Surgery Heal?
Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Procedures
Tip rhinoplasty, also known as tip refinement, is a rhinoplasty procedure that involves reshaping the nasal tip to enhance its appearance. Patients chose to undergo tip nose surgery in Toronto for a variety of reasons, including their desire to reduce the size or width of the tip, make it less bulbous or boxy, or more or less upturned.
When undergoing this type of procedure, it is advisable to schedule one week off work, school, and other responsibilities. Patients will usually only report mild discomfort, however, a pain medication will be prescribed to keep you comfortable. While an external splint may be required, in many cases, tip rhinoplasty only necessitates special tape. Once the cast or tape is removed approximately one week post-operatively, the tip will appear swollen, however, this edema will gradually dissipate and by the end of the second week, it is typically not visible to others.
If used, external sutures will be removed within 1 week of the procedure while the internal sutures will dissolve naturally. One of the advantages of tip rhinoplasty is that because no boney work is required, there is very little bruising and the swelling is often minimal. After two weeks, patients can resume regular activities and gradually reintroduce physical activity such as exercise.
During the first few months of your nose surgery in Toronto, the remaining swelling will gradually dissipate and approximately three to four months post-operatively, the results will begin to be apparent. Although patients who undergo nose tip surgery typically experience less swelling than those who have a more extensive procedure, the swelling in the upper two thirds of the nose tends to resolve itself at a faster rate than swelling in the tip, which means that long term recovery from nose tip surgery is often not any shorter than it is for a regular rhinoplasty procedure. However, during the first few months, any sensitivity or numbness in the tip will gradually improve and the nose will appear more refined.
As with any rhinoplasty procedure, it may take up to 12-14 months to see the final outcome of your nose surgery. Although the majority of the swelling will subside much earlier, it may take 6-12 months for residual swelling to resolve itself and the tissue softening may take 12-14 months. Thus, patience is required when recovering from rhinoplasty, but the results are well worth the wait.
