Rhinoplasty Surgeon

Dr. Solomon makes rhinoplasty a large focus of his practice. He has extensive experience in both cosmetic and reconstructive nasal surgery.

Rhinoplasty and Nasal Surgery

Nasal surgery can have a dramatic effect on one's appearance. While there is no upper age limit for having rhinoplasty, patients may be advised to wait until they are 14 or 15 (when the nose is fully developed) before having this surgery.

Rhinoplasty and Breathing Problems

Breathing problems related to the internal nasal structures can often be corrected at the same time as nose reshaping. When considering Rhinoplasty Surgery (Nose Job) It is important to have a clear idea of how you would like your nose to look as well as know there are some limitations to cosmetic nasal surgery, often depending on ones ethnicity and skin type.

Rhinoplasty Assessment

Cosmetic Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Solomon will need to assess your nasal structure and breathing. He will determine if you have a deviated septum, other structural deformities of the nose or suffer from nasal allergies.

In evaluating you for rhinoplasty, Dr. Solomon will examine your nose both internally and externally. Skin quality as well as the size and shape of your nose must be carefully studied. Sometimes, chin augmentation may be suggested so that a more pleasing facial balance can achieved. In some cases the nasal support will need to be rebuilt. This can be accomplished using cartilage grafts from your nose or cartilage from another part of the body, often the ear. In certain cases subtle imperfections of the nose can be smoothed with implants of gortex a fine sheet material often used in vascular surgery.

Rhinoplasty Surgery

In an open rhinoplasty surgery, a short incision is made across the columella that separates the nostrils. Dr Solomon generally reserves this approach for revision cases or severely traumatized noses. Occasionally external incisions are needed in the crease where the nose and cheek join in order to narrow the nostril, this is generally not noticeable after healing.

Skin numbness after rhinoplasty (Nose Job) may occur but is usually temporary. Occasionally, extra surgery may be necessary to refine the result.

Bruising should be gone after a week and you can use concealing makeup if you wish. Swelling, however, can last a number of weeks or months though residual swelling usually affects just the nasal tip.

Rhinoplasty Ontario

In Ontario, nasal procedures for breathing difficulty or nasal deformity from trauma may be covered by OHIP. In these cases, Dr. Solomon will assess your condition and often submit photos and breathing tests to the Ministry of Health to determine health insurance coverage.
