Can You Narrow a Fat Nasal Tip?
Patient question:
I’m a 19 y/o female with a fat nasal tip. I want to narrow it and improve its appearance can this be done?
Dr. Solomon Answer:
This should not be construed as medical advice. I am a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and Otolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon.
The nasal tip is the area that often needs refinement or balance to make it fit best with the remainder of the nose. The tip is made of paired cartilages called the lower lateral cartilages. If the cartilages are wide or have a broad arch the nasal tip can appear bulbous. This area can be dramatically refined in many cases by narrowing the cartilages and by modifying there shape with incisions or permanent sutures. The nasal skin type can also play a role in the nasal tip appearance. Thick skin patients may have a more difficult time with nasal tip modification as their skin type can camouflage any significant changes made to the cartilage of the nose. Your surgeon should be able to give you an idea as to what can be reasonably achieved with your type of nose.
