You need not be rich or famous like Pamela Lee to get plastic surgery done. I am not saying that they subscribe to getting it done. But if you want to stay younger you can always add a little beauty for a good price.

A specialist in head & neck surgery at the York Central Hospital, Dr. Philip Solomon recently opened a clinic in Thornhill, exclusively for performing facial plastic surgeries like rhinoplasties, face lifts, brow lifts and botox injections & facial injections.

Though only having opened his Thornhill clinic recently this year, Dr. Phil Solomon has been performing surgeries for the past 8 years. Not only does he have a sizable number of patients and patrons coming back to him, his practice continues to grow.

Patient Question:
Have you performed any rhinoplasty and/or septoplasty on Asians in the past. I would like to see examples of their results.

Answer Dr. Solomon
I have performed many Asian Rhinoplasty surgeries. Asian and African American noses share a few common elements. There is often a low bridge. Lack of nasal tip projection and often thick nasal skin. As well the base of the nose is often wide. All these elements can be addressed somewhat with rhinoplasty surgery. Each nose is different and therefore during consultation the exact goals of your rhinoplasty surgery would be established.

You can see some examples of Non Caucasian Rhinoplasty Photos.  Patient number three is a typical example of an Asian women who had rhinoplasty. Notice the bridge and the nasal tip were reconstructed. There are other photos available for viewing in my office.

Patient Question:
I have injured my nose a number of times and want rhinoplasty surgery. Is the nose weakened as a result of the prior injuries. Would this make rhinoplasty more difficult?

Dr Solomon Answer:
Prior nasal injuries can weaken the nose. The underlying structures including the nasal septum and the cartilage and bone that make up the bridge can be deformed as a result of injury. That being said many patients with who come for rhinoplasty have had prior injury. The degree of injury and which structures were injured would have to be established before surgery. The goal of surgery would have to be established. The options would include reconstructive rhinoplasty to try and make the nose as it was before injury or cosmetic where we would aim for a new shaped nose. It is essential to establish your specific goals of the surgery.

Regarding the strength of the nose after injury it often would depend on the timing. After an injury a nose can be straightened with manipulation within the first two weeks. After this time the nose will heal and would require re fracturing the nose to mobilize the nasal bones. If the cartilage is deformed from the injury the correction becomes more complicated and may require extensive septorhinoplasty surgery.
A nose that is crooked often is extremely difficult to restore to a perfectly straight nose.

All these factors must be considered in each case of the traumatized nose.

Patient Question:
I have already had one prior rhinoplasty. How can I be sure that revision rhinoplasty will be better?

Dr Solomon answer:
There is no guarantee with revision rhinoplasty surgery. However, the one thing that you can do is to find a surgeon who you trust who you believe understands what needs to be improved and offers reasonable solutions. Review examples of surgeons work to see what types of results he or she has achieved in the past. With a proper surgical plan an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon should be able to improve your situation. Having realistic goals established will help achieve a satisfied patient postoperatively.
