Botox Injection Treatments
Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures
BOTOX® Cosmetic
As humans, we show our emotions on our faces. When we are happy, we smile. When we are perplexed or upset, we frown. And until recently, those emotions made an indelible and unwanted imprint on our facial skin that we call wrinkles.
You can now enjoy a very effective prescription treatment for the lessening of those lines we all develop over time on our faces. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the first FDA-approved prescription treatment of its kind that can dramatically reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, laugh lines and forehead wrinkles.
A purified protein produced by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum, BOTOXworks by temporarily relaxing the muscles that we overuse in our everyday facial expressions. When those muscles are relaxed through a few tiny injections of BOTOX, the lines and wrinkles are noticeably diminished, often within days of the first treatment.
This simple, non-surgical, inexpensive procedure takes only about ten minutes. In fact, many patients conveniently fit their treatments in during a lunch hour since the procedure is practically painless and there is no down time needed for recovery. The effects of a single treatment can last up to four months. Repeat treatments may result in effects that last up to six months at a time.
BOTOX Cosmetic use is so widespread, that the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports it as the most popular physician-administered aesthetic procedure (surgical and non-surgical combined) in the U.S. for several years in a row. Though it can have serious side effects, when BOTOX is properly administered by an experienced professional, the uncommon incidence of such side effects has no doubt added to its following.
Minor side effects of treatment include a slight, temporary drooping of the eyelid, and some patients may experience tenderness, swelling, redness or bruising in conjunction with the injection. Use of an ice pack should help ease any brief discomfort.
As with most facial rejuvenation treatments, the best results are being enjoyed when treatments are begun before deep furrows have had time to form, though severe frown lines can be significantly diminished with BOTOX. The deeper the wrinkle though, the longer it may take for the skin to smooth out.
A recent study conducted by an American Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon - Otolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon found that BOTOXcan actually prevent the signs of aging when treatments are begun earlier in life. The study followed twin sisters over thirteen years beginning at age 25 when one of them began receiving BOTOX treatments. It was clear at the end of the study, that the twin who had received BOTOX injections did not have frown lines and her crow’s feet were less visible than the untreated twin’s.
BOTOXis recommended for use by women and men between the ages of 18 and 65 years old. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not use BOTOX. You should always discuss any health conditions and all medications you are taking with your doctor before BOTOX treatments.
Be assured there is no concern that treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic will leave you with a radical inability to make facial expressions. The results of treatment will not make you look “frozen” or “overdone.”
You will still be able to smile, laugh, look surprised and frown without causing the lasting creases you do not want.

What is Botox?
Although it is a toxin, Botox has been used safely in medicine for for over 10 years. It has been used for wrinkle therapy since the early 1990's with no serious side effects documented.
Botox injections relax the muscles that create wrinkles thereby lessening the appearance of frown lines and and crow's feet.
A protein toxin produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria, Botox eliminates the facial wrinkles that occur with overuse of facial muscles.
A small amount of Botox is injected right into the muscles that are responsible for creating wrinkles. Botox effectively inactivates the muscles that produce wrinkles, thereby causing lines to disappear or diminish dramatically.
Botox Injection Treatments
Some of the common areas treated include crow's feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and forehead wrinkles.
A Botox treatment is quick and results usually last three to six months. After that you may return for a follow-up injection. Some cosmetic doctors report that after several treatments, the effect of Botox appears to last longer, often up to several months.
The most common complication is a slight, temporary drooping of the eyelid. Botox is used in extremely small amounts and does not spread throughout the body so you can return to full activity immediately.
Botox can be used by almost anyone: patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or who have a neurologic disease should not use Botox.
The 5 Questions I Get Asked Most Frequently About Botox® and How I Respond
"Dr Solomon Botox Clinic At Dr Solomon Facial Plastic Surgery Centre Thornhill Ontario Canada "
Botox® is an inexpensive and minimally invasive treatment that can help almost anyone look years younger, so it's no wonder its popularity is on the rise.
In fact, a recent facial plastic surgery study completed in the United States concluded, Botox® prevented signs of aging. The study followed identical twins over a 10 year period - one who underwent Botox® treatments and one who did not. The twin who had used Botox® looked much younger when assessed years later.
Although there are many reasons patients consider Botox® treatments, there is one compelling motivator.
Botox® treatments are quick, virtually painless and often produce dramatic results.
And, there is no recovery down time to contend with. Patients can have a Botox® treatment during a lunch break and return to the office afterwards.
Here are the top 5 questions I get asked most often by people considering Botox® treatments:
1. How Long Does It Take Botox® to Start Working?
It takes approximately 5 days for the medicine to cause the treated muscles to relax. The creases should then begin to smooth out in 1 to 2 weeks. If you have deep creases, it may take a bit longer for the skin to "flatten" out.
2. Are Botox® treatments painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.
3. How long does Botox® last?
The effect of Botox® usually lasts 3 to 5 months when used to correct wrinkles of the face. First time patients may see the effects subside closer to 3 -4 months while repeat users may enjoy the effects for up to 6 months.
4. Will I experience any side effects?
While side effects are uncommon, they can often be easily treated when they do occur. The most common side effect following injection includes temporary eyelid droop which can be corrected with eye drops until the Botox effect subsides. In some cases, localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.
5. Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Although the results are visible, Botox® treatment will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you "had something done."
Although the results are visible due to the muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows being reduced, you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
